One of Love Project

This project is a support activity that aims to improve the educational environment for children in developing countries and the employment opportunities for their working mothers through music and roses. It started with a journey by percussionists Saito Nov and Natsuki Mari to "deliver music to children in developing countries." They visited Ethiopia and Bangladesh and saw children living in harsh conditions. Even in such conditions, the children were full of energy. "We want them to grow up healthy," was the wish that led to the launch of the "One of Love Project" in 2009.

The official One of Love project website is here

On their travels to Ethiopia and Bangladesh, the pair met children who lived in harsh environments but kept smiling and trying their best to live. They wanted to help them grow up healthy. With this in mind, they launched the "One of Love Project" in 2009. They hold a gig every year on June 21st, which is World Music Day, and donate the proceeds from the sale of their original rose "Mari Rouge" (the 21st of each month is Mari Rouge Day) to developing countries. In the past, the donations were used to set up a computer training program at a rose farm in Ethiopia. The donations have also been used to purchase and distribute school uniforms and textbooks.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Of course, it is still known as one of the world's leading coffee producing regions. For Ogawa Coffee, Ethiopia is a place that seems far away, but is close. "Is there anything we can do?" With this in mind, Ogawa Coffee began supporting the "One of Love Project". On the 21st of each month, "Mari Rouge Day," customers who order limited-edition coffee are served in Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki cups decorated with the crimson rose "Mari Rouge" (only at Ogawa Coffee Main Store, Kyoto Sanjo Store, and OGAWA COFFEE Kyoto Store). The first 10 customers are presented with a "Mari Rouge" flower.

We will continue to think about what we can do through coffee to let as many people as possible know about the project.
