"Enjoy a time with coffee and demitasse"

「コーヒーとデミタスで愉しむ時間」を開催

OGAWA COFFEE LABORATORY Shimokitazawa will be hosting a coffee and demitasse event , "Enjoying Time with Coffee and Demitasse," on Friday, February 21, 2025, featuring demitasse collector Kazumi Murakami.

At this event, we will welcome Demitasse collector Kazumi Murakami, who has collected over 2,300 Demitasse pieces, to introduce the appeal of Demitasse and some of his collection in the context of art history.
Guests can also choose their own favourite demitasse from the wide range of Japonism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco demitasse cups collected by Murakami, and serve it with scones filled with carefully selected specialty coffee from OGAWA COFFEE LABORATORY.

They will then hold a talk session together with Yoshikawa Toshiko, the 2013 World Latte Art Champion and head barista at Ogawa Coffee, where they will each share their perspectives on demitasse. From a collector's perspective, Murakami will talk about demitasse design, how it has changed over the years, and the joys of collecting it. From a barista's perspective, Yoshikawa will talk about the practicality of demitasse and its use in the modern cafe scene.

See, touch, listen to the talk and enjoy a new coffee experience with a demitasse theme.

Ms. Kazumi Murakami

As a long-time coffee drinker, he was drawn to the appeal of demitasse as a type of tableware and gradually began collecting them. He began to seriously collect antiques in 2006 and now has a collection of over 2,300 items. The collection is characterized by its focus on items from the UK, France and Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries, not only famous makers but also less well-known but still interesting items in Japan.
