In fact, there are warnings that if things continue as they are, the area where coffee is grown will decrease by about 50%.
Therefore, if things continue as they are, there may come a time in the future when we will no longer be able to enjoy coffee in the way we do now...
Why is coffee cultivation area halving?

Quote: Change with 2030 SDGs Powered by Asahi Shimbun
The main cause is the effects of climate change due to global warming.
The amount of land suitable for growing coffee has been halved, and current production activities may become unsustainable by 2050.
Coffee is sensitive to environmental changes, and global warming brings about various changes, not just increases in temperature, but also increases in humidity and decreases in rainfall.
It is estimated that due to rising temperatures and changes in rainfall, the production areas of Arabica and Robusta coffee beans used by coffee shops and other establishments will be halved by 2050.
The shrinking production area could push up international bean prices in the long term, resulting in increased costs for coffee shops and beverage manufacturers.
Connecting coffee to the future
Various initiatives are underway around the world to connect coffee to the future.
For example, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the enactment and enforcement of the Organic Agriculture Promotion Act, December 8, 2016 was designated as "Organic Agriculture Day."
Ogawa Coffee also agrees with the idea of making this a turning point for everyone to think about the future of agriculture and take action, and has been holding events to promote "Organic Agriculture Day" since 2018.
"Organic Agriculture Day" is a delicious and fun commemorative day where you can experience organic farming and other "organic" things and events in our daily lives.
