Costa Rica

The Republic of Costa Rica (Spanish: La República de Costa Rica Rica), commonly known as Costa Rica, is a republic located in the southern part of Central America. Coffee cultivation in Costa Rica is centered around the Sierra Madre mountain range in the center. The flavor differs depending on the region, and the country is roughly divided into eight regions (BRUNCA, OROSI, TARRAZU, TURRIALBA, TRES RIOS, VALLE CENTRAL, VALLE OCCIDENTAL, and GUANACASTEGUANACASTE). Don Egidio Rodriguez's farm is located in the West Valley region of VALLE OCCIDENTAL.

■Santa Lucia Farm

The West Valley region where Santa Lucia Farm is located is one of the famous coffee growing areas in Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, where environmental protection is highly conscious, coffee farms are required to take environmentally friendly measures such as leaving a certain amount of natural areas other than coffee trees on the farm site and purifying used water before discharging it into rivers. Santa Lucia Farm also practices sustainable coffee cultivation that takes the surrounding environment into consideration, such as planting shade trees that protect the coffee from strong sunlight and are effective in maintaining the soil, and using natural spring water. The farm owner built a selection facility near the farm and made efforts to make the process from harvesting to refining smooth, working to improve the quality of the coffee he produces, and also allowing neighboring farms to use the facility, contributing to improving the quality of coffee in the entire region.

Selection method: Natural (non-washed)

Natural is a method of processing coffee. After harvesting the coffee cherries, they are dried without removing the pulp, and then the pulp and parchment are removed at the same time. This method is characterized by transferring the flavor to the coffee beans by drying them with the pulp still attached.
