Macho Farm

Macho Farm is located at an altitude of 2000m, so high that it hangs over the clouds. The soil is fertile, but the nights are very cold, so it is said to be the limiting environment for growing coffee. Also, because it is in the mountains, the weather is changeable and there are frequent rainstorms, so the dry beds have to be covered with plastic sheets every time. Cultivation and selection are time-consuming, but the result is high-quality coffee.

Washed

Washed coffee is a method of processing coffee. After the coffee cherries are harvested, they are mechanically (manually or automatically) peeled to remove the slime (mucilage) that adheres to the parchment coffee. This method has different names depending on the country or region, such as fully washed or mechanically washed, but there is no unified standard.

Santa Lucia Farm

The West Valley region where Santa Lucia Farm is located is one of the famous coffee growing areas in Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, where environmental protection is highly conscious, coffee farms are required to take environmentally friendly measures such as leaving a certain amount of natural areas other than coffee trees on the farm site and purifying used water before discharging it into rivers. Santa Lucia Farm also practices sustainable coffee cultivation that takes the surrounding environment into consideration, such as planting shade trees that protect the coffee from strong sunlight and are effective in maintaining the soil, and using natural spring water. The farm owner built a selection facility near the farm and made efforts to make the process from harvesting to refining smooth, working to improve the quality of the coffee he produces, and also allows neighboring farms to use the facility, contributing to improving the quality of coffee in the entire region.

Natural (non-washable)

Natural is a method of processing coffee. After harvesting the coffee cherries, they are dried without removing the pulp, and then the pulp and parchment are removed at the same time. This method is characterized by transferring the flavor to the coffee beans by drying them with the pulp still attached.
