Coffee grown in the Gayo Plateau in northern Sumatra, Indonesia
The Gayo region where Umang Isaq Group grows coffee is located in the northernmost part of Sumatra, Indonesia, in the Aceh province adjacent to Aceh. This region is known for cultivating high-quality Arabica in Indonesia, and the specific brand "Gayo Mountain" is produced in this region.
At one of the Umag Isaq Group's farms in the Gayo region, the coffee trees are grown in a protected natural environment using locally certified organic fertilizer, and they are thriving, green and healthy.
The coffee grown there is evaluated by local cuppers, and only that which meets a certain standard is certified as orangutan coffee.
Among the certified coffees, the one that always receives the highest rating in blind evaluations is the Umang Isaq Group, and we have been dealing with them for over three years.

■ Selection method: Sumatran style
A method used in parts of Sumatra, Indonesia, in which parchment coffee with remaining mucilage is dehulled without being thoroughly dried, and then further dried.
Harvest → Place the coffee cherries in a water tank to remove floaters and light foreign objects → Remove the outer skin with a pulp remover → Pre-dry while leaving the slimy inner skin (parchment) → Leave to rest in a storage facility → Put into a sheller → Final drying → Green beans The green beans have a unique deep green color that is different from other refining methods, and they also have a unique flavor.

Indonesia has the largest lowland tropical rainforest in Asia and is said to be the country with the most biodiversity in the world. However, the tropical rainforest is decreasing year by year due to forest fires and illegal logging. As a result, the number of Sumatran orangutans and Tapanuli orangutans, which live in the tropical rainforest, has also decreased, and they are now designated as an endangered species. In order to save this critical situation, the non-profit organization "PanEco" is carrying out orangutan conservation activities (SOCP = Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme). Protecting orangutans, who need tropical rainforests, also leads to protecting biodiversity. This project was started by professionals such as world-famous roasters, baristas, cuppers, and coffee machine manufacturers who sympathized with their activities based on this idea and agreed to it.
The Orangutan Coffee Project aims to protect the natural environment in which orangutans live and enrich the lives of local coffee producers through the production of high-quality coffee that attracts many people. The project not only supports environmental improvement in the production area, but also supports activities to protect orangutans and the environment by donating part of the sales of green beans to the conservation group "PanEco" and producers. The production area of Orangutan Coffee, which has these characteristics, is the Gayo District in Aceh Province on the island of Sumatra. It is also known as the production area of certain brands such as Gayo Mountain, Mandheling, and Toraja.
