■Coffee grown in a favorable environment

Kenya is attracting attention in the world of specialty coffee because of the large amount of high-quality, distinctive coffee produced there. This coffee is exclusive to the Gachuyani Factory and is selected from small farms around Gachuyani Village, which is located at a particularly high altitude (about 2,000m) in the Nyeri region, which is surrounded by mountains to the west and north. The Gachuyani Factory is the largest agricultural cooperative in Kenya, and has strict quality control, including a cupping lab, and always aims to produce high-quality coffee.

■ Selection method: Washed

After the coffee cherries are harvested, the flesh is peeled using a machine (either manual or automatic) and the slime (mucilage) that adheres to the parchment coffee is then removed.
The names vary depending on the country and region, such as free washed or mechanically washed, and there are no uniform standards.
